In April of 2003, the Concord-Carlisle High School Concert Band plans to travel to Hokkaido, Japan - Japan's northernmost island and Massachusetts' sister state. The trip will include visits to Tokyo, Sapporo, and to Concord's sister city, Nanae, in southern Hokkaido.

 Preparation for the trip has already started. This past summer (2001), a group of CCHS teachers flew to Japan to begin the hard work of planning the logistics of safely transporting almost 100 student musicians, and their chaperones, to various venues.
